       How does Reiki "work"? 

Our body is made from energy vibrating on a certain frequency!   It is when our energy is disrupted that we manifest this in the physical as disease and discomfort.  Any issue will always first manifest in the energetic field of your body (lots of times your emotional state is a good indicator that something is "off").  You feel stuck, negative, feel that you have no purpose or that you don't belong and often times sadly enough can lead to depression.
When this state of being is ignored, the energy gets blocked and negatively charged which then, in the long run, will manifest as a physical problem.  
With Reiki we heal at the energetic level by balancing the energy back to its natural state.

What to expect from a Reiki session?

           

A typical reiki session lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. At your first appointment, you’ll have a short introduction or chat about the process and your expectations or intentions. You will be asked about any symptoms you want addressed or if there are places in the body on which you’d like to focus.  Please inform if you have any injuries or places that are sensitive to the touch.
You’ll be instructed to lie down on a treatment table and soft, relaxing music will be playing in the background. For the most part there won’t be any talking during the session, but you can feel free to inform if there’s something you need to feel more comfortable or to share what you’re experiencing.  Reiki is done by keeping the hands above your body and channeling the life force energy through to your energy fields.
You may experience sensations in the body such as heat, cold or tingling. Some people report seeing visualizations such as colors or pictures, or having memories appear. Try to allow whatever arises to pass without attaching too much meaning to it. Your experiences may become deeper the more you continue with reiki.

 

How to prepare for a Reiki session?

Wear clean, loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. You may wish to wear natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, or silk. Remove your shoes, jewelry, and glasses before your session, and keep your phone switched off or leave it behind.  Cutting out any stimulants (coffee, energy drinks, sugar in general) a few days before your session will help as this partially cleans your body and will allow the energy to move with less resistance.
Setting a clear intention a few days before of what you expect from the session will also help.  Most people do this through meditation or prayer, both are efficient.

 

What to expect after a session?

Drink plenty of water after your session as Reiki is like an energetic detox and you will want to flush out the negative energies that were released during the session.  Depending on how much energy was shifted it can cause nausea or headache however this is rarely the case.  In most cases people feel calm, peaceful, more energized, balanced and might even see/feel physical improvement after one session!

 

How many sessions do I need?

This greatly depends on different factors.  Discomfort and pain can be both emotional and or physical.  Any issue will always first manifest in the energetic field of your body!
Often times people will want to heal their physical pain without addressing the underlying issue.  With Reiki we heal at the energetic level which then will automatically manifest in the physical.  It depends from person to person how quickly results show in the physical depending on your ability to address the emotional part of it as well.
